Summer Darkroom Use

Hi everyone,

If anyone's around for the summer and interested in using the darkroom, send us an email at mpaemail@hotmail.com. The fee will be $20 and we will provide all the chemicals that you will need. You'll have to buy your own paper and film, but we will also sell that if you need it.

Mona's Goodbye Message & MPA's Last Event of the Year!

Hi MPA,

Thanks to everyone who made this year so much fun and such a great success! I had a great time going with you guys on the trips, testing out ideas at the workshops, and finally showing off all your fabulous work at our gallery - Art Exposed 2007!

I hope that you all continue doing what we all love, taking photos, each in your own style. I also hope you can join us for our last event of the year, an MPA social at the Phoenix on Thursday, April 12th from 10pm onwards. It's during exam time, but definitely stop by for a study break! Last year's exec member, Emma Timmons, will be joining us from Ireland. I'm graduating this year so it'll also be nice to say goodbye to you all in person, and wish the best for our graduating exec team and general members. The social will also give us an opportunity to welcome in the MPA president for next year, Olivia Caron.

Thanks again for everything MPA! I'm definitely going to miss you!

The McMaster Dance Company is looking for a photographer for their spring showcase. They need 1-2 photographers who are experienced with taking movement shots. The photographers need to be available from 10-2:30pm on April 1st and they will be paid for their services.

Engineers without Borders is having a year-end gala this year at faculty club and they are looking for artpieces for to auction. If you would be interested in donating some of your work, please email Stephanie at stephanie.toms@gmail.com.

ART EXPOSED 2007

The MPA is very excited to announce that our 2nd annual end-of-year gallery will be held in joint collaboration with Artists Anonymous. ART EXPOSED 2007 will feature over 300 pieces of art from more than 40 McMaster artists.

The gallery submission deadline has been extended to Friday, March 16th! Get your pictures in to Wentworth House B115C between 11:30am-12:20pm. This is your last chance, so if you can't make it, get someone to submit for you!

Volunteer Opportunity - INFUSION Canada

INFUSION Canada is looking for a photographer.

This charity raises money and awareness in support of young cancer patients and survivors. Over the last 4 years, INFUSION has raised over $100,000 for the cause.

Throughout the year, INFUSION hosts a variety of events and campaigns and this year, INFUSION is hosting a fashion show with students from McMaster University on March 30, 2007 at the Hamilton Convention Center.

Fuji Film Contest!

FUJI Film is hosting a photography contest on campus!

If you are interested, you are asked to send in YOUR most captivating and through provoking University Life picture to fujifilmcontest@gmail.com with your full contact information by Monday March 12th. You will be eligible to win a Fujifilm Finepix Digital Camera.

The top 10 photos will be announced Thursday March 15th and winners will be announced on March 19th. Winners are determined by vote, so if you are interested, you can go check out the photos and vote on March 19th in the CIBC Hall on the third floor of MUSC between 10am and 2pm.

Gallery Submissions

Hey Photographers!

We just wanted to remind you all that the deadline for gallery submissions is March 12th, so stop by our office hours on Mar 7 @ 9:30am or Mar 12 @ 9:30am & 2:30pm in Wentworth House B115 with your photos (hardcopies only)! Please write your name on the back of each photo so we know who to return it to. If you also leave us with your contact information, we will notify you if anyone expresses interest in purchasing your prints.

We are accepting photos primarily from the MPA, but if you have friends that would like to submit, they are welcome to do so. We would prefer that the photos are 8x10, but if you have a particular photograph/series that you would like to show, we can try to accomodate your needs.

Field Trip Cancelled

Hey guys

Tomorrow was supposed to be our field trip to Downtown Hamilton, however with this crazy cold and windchill factor of -20 to -30 tomorrow we have decided to postpone the trip.
A bummer we know but it will be way too cold for our fingers and our cameras.

If anyone wants to buy paper or film you can purchase it this Thursday Feb 8th from 11:30 to 12:30.

Job Opportunity with McMaster World Congress

Hey MPA!

Here's a great opportunity for anyone interested. McMaster World Congress (http://worldcongress.mcmaster.ca) is looking for a photographer.

Date: Wednesday Jan. 24 to Jan. 26th 2007.

Location: Hamilton Conventions Centre. 10 Summers Lane, Hamilton Ontario.
Thursday Evening - a portion of the time will be spent at the Art Gallery of Hamilton located beside the Convention Centre.

Time: 8 am - 8:30 pm Wednesday and Thursday.
8 am - 2 pm Friday.

All meals will be provided: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. (There is no dinner on Friday as the conference is completed.

The ability to provide quality photos, place photos on a CD or DVD, and act professionally is mandatory. A samples of previous work is appreciated.

Fee: negotiable; a letter of reference will be provided.
